Royal Troon was bestowed with its royal title in 1978 during its centenary celebration. The bag’s design features Royal Purple as the base color, accented by gold ribbons encircling the bottom and top, and finished with white flocked TaylorMade logos, completing a majestic palette.

This Commemorative British Open Staff Bag is rich in subtle details. The purple sides are adorned with checkered postage stamps and inlays that alternate between the TaylorMade logo and the number 8. This design pays tribute to the iconic 8th hole, which faces westward toward the Firth of Clyde. At 123 yards, this par-3 is the shortest hole in British Open history.
Homage to the Infamous 8th Hole
The valuables pocket features the name "Ailsa," a nod to the 8th hole. Willie Park, Jr., the 1887 and 1889 British Open Champion, used this name to describe the postcard view from the 8th tee box, looking out towards Ailsa Rock on the horizon.
The white TaylorMade logos on the bag are crafted from soft flocking material, reminiscent of the collars worn by royalty on their coats for centuries.
Tribute to the 11th Hole
The back of the bag features railroad tracks gilded with the number 11, paying homage to the challenging 11th hole. This daunting par-4 requires a long, accurate tee shot over gorse to a blind fairway, flanked by out-of-bounds and railroad tracks along the entire right side.
The top of the bag showcases a gold ribbon with the "152nd" logo, marking the 152nd playing of the British Open. Two gold serpents encircle the bag’s bottom ring, honoring the snake-like creatures found in Royal Troon’s seal.
