Mizuno ST-X 220 Golf Fairway Wood
The Mizuno ST-X 220 fairway wood has been created to offer golfers increased launch and slight draw bias.
Using Mizuno’s X-Axis design allows for an internal weight to be inserted deep inside the head of the driver to encourage a high draw bias flight. With this deep internal weighting this fairway wood is suitable for golfers who play with moderate swing speeds who need elevated launch to reach their desired distance and landing angles.
The face used on the ST-X 220 Fairway wood uses a new high strength SAT2041 beta titanium face that has been designed to vary in thickness across the entire face. This beta titanium is an alloy, combining Titanium, Vanadium, Aluminum and Sn, that has been designed to offer both incredible flexibility and strength that is 17% stronger than the material used in the Mizuno ST180 and ST190 drivers.
In the sole Mizuno engineers have used Wave Technology for additional ball speed. This added ball speed is made possible thanks to the series of ridges that are used in the button of the head to allow for the lower section of the face to flex more on shots that strike lower on the face meaning high speeds can still be generated. Being able to generate high ball speeds, even on lower face shots, is excellent for strikes directly from the turf.
Mizuno uses their Harmonic Impact Research to identify and isolate vibration patterns that are created when striking a golf ball. These patterns create the sort of sound that many elite players associate with a preferred ‘solid’ feel.
